Mike Tucker – Saxophonist

Grammy-nominated saxophonist Mike Tucker is internationally recognized for his dynamic performances. He is perhaps best known for his work with legendary trumpeter Arturo Sandoval, with whom he has toured extensively.

To date, Tucker has performed as both leader and sideman in more than 30 countries worldwide and appears on over 40 recordings. He has released four albums as a leader and three as co-leader with bassist Dave Zinno’s acclaimed group Unisphere. His artistry bridges genres, and his versatility has led to collaborations with some of the world’s most celebrated musicians. In jazz, he has worked with Esperanza Spalding, Joe Lovano, Branford Marsalis, Joey Calderazzo, and Tiger Okoshi. His deep love of R&B and soul has brought him to the stage with George Duke, Lettuce, Soulive, Melvin Sparks, The Motet, Fred Wesley, Pee Wee Ellis, Robin McKelle, Nigel Hall, and many others.

Born in Danvers, Massachusetts, Tucker began playing saxophone at age 11 and fell in love with jazz just a few years later. He went on to receive a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music and was named a semi-finalist in the 2002 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition, one of the most prestigious honors in the field.

Alongside his busy performance schedule, Tucker is dedicated to education. He serves as an Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music and Adjunct Faculty at the New England Conservatory, where he teaches saxophone, improvisation, harmony, and ensembles.

With his powerful sound, stylistic range, and commitment to both performance and education, Mike Tucker continues to inspire audiences and students worldwide.
